What are Anti Wrinkle injections?

This is commonly known as Botox, a series of small injections that will relax the muscle it is injected into.

How do they work?

They work by blocking the communication from the nerve to the muscle.

 

How long will it last?

The actual appointment will last approximately 30 minutes. Anti Wrinkle injections work gradually so it can take 2 weeks to show full results and will last approximately 3-4 months. You will gradually start to notice more movement in the muscle.

 

Will the injections hurt?

The injections may sting for a very short time. Topical local anaesthetic cream can be applied at your request.

How do I know if I am suitable for anti-wrinkle injections?

Not everybody is suitable. A consultation will be carried out with a nurse practitioner. You are likely to be suitable if you are over the age of 18, do not have a neuromuscular condition, are not taking certain antibiotics, and have lines or wrinkles when making facial expressions.

Do I need a consultation?

Absolutely yes! Botulinum Toxin A is a prescription only medicene and needs to be prescribed at a face to face consultation prior to your treatment. We will ask about any medical conditions/allergies and your main areas of concern. We will talk you through the benefits and potential complications and answer all your questions.

What happens after I have the injections?

There may be small red marks and raised areas which will fade less than an hour afterward. There is aftercare you must follow which we will talk through, such as avoiding creams and makeup for 6 hours, not drinking alcohol for 24 hours, and avoiding extreme heat such as saunas etc. We also do a 2-week follow-up with a top-up if required free of charge.
